Ok... Hi again folks. I thought that I would share a couple of excellent radio shows that I have enjoyed for some time now before I archive them away. I must say that these have been posted before at several sites but these versions here I am uploading are the very best quality that I have acquired of them. Sometimes even by downloading and comparing the actual files between sources. I think that I'll start out with this Bonnie Raitt one from 1972. This is well-known as probably being just about the absolutely best live recording of early Bonnie Raitt. And this one comes with an interesting story to it as well. You can read the enclosed Info text below which tells you all about this recording. I have also included both sets of the artwork which commonly is traded with this show. The one designated as "alternate" is, I believe, the earlier of the two and differs slightly. I have included that one fully as well. Along with a track especially suitable for its use if you wish. That's about it, I'll finish by saying this one is of exceptional quality. Enjoy...

The Story:

Like any story passed on with some music this needs to be
taken with a grain of salt. Here what was told to me and this
is what I know.

An intern at WMMR in the 80's recorded this show to an
analog source. Being such a tremendous recording this
individual longed to re-record the master reel straight to
a digital source as they became increasingly popular in the
early 90's. At this point the intern had moved on and no
longer had this type of access. However, he remembered
periodically that the studio or the station allowed access
to the 'records room' for research activity. Posing as a
university affiliate doing research on 70's radio advertising
this individual gained access to the master reels with a
portable Sony DAT deck. The room was laid out with shelves
with tables on the far end with cassette decks, reel to reel
and 'cart' type recorders. Unplugging the cart recorder and
connecting the DAT deck history was then digitized. If you
look at the timeline it was more than likely recorded with a
Sony TCD D3. This early DAT deck was actually graced with a
very nice A to D chip. I believe the same chip found in the
Panasonic SV3700. Therefore a very nice digital transcript
was made that day.

At this time I was working at a mail order facility selling
DAT tapes. Which at the time were very expensive, $12 or more
per tape. The individual with this Bonnie recording told us
the story above. Is it true?  Who knows but he use to buy DAT
tapes from us regularly. He made us a cassette of this famous
recording and we bugged him to make us a DAT copy for months.
He did not have the means to do DAT to DAT. On a visit to the
'store' in Stamford in 1992 we finally were able to make 1
DAT clone. I subsequently cloned that DAT. Most likely the
clone was made between a Panasonic SV3700 and a Sony 59ES.
But, possibly between 2 SV3700's. At the 'shop' we had so
many DAT decks with many configurations.

I have no doubt this is direct from the Pre-FM Reels and one
listen and you will have no doubt either. Easily one of the
finest recordings by any musician at any time.

--------------------------------------------------------------

For the alternate artwork to be used, you will need to use
the track, 15 - Since I Fell For You, included along with it
in the separate folder. It is a joining of tracks #15 & #16
into a single final track for this recording. Of course, this
being a live show, all of the tracks are burned to CD-R with
no gap between them for an unbroken seamless performance.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Artwork is included, two sets.

Hope you enjoy the music... and until next time

Btw...finished listening to this one. I really owe you a huge thank you! This is one of the best bootlegs I ever downloaded. Well, audio's perfect, but she's simply fabulous. It's really incredible how much much better her interpretations, voice and style were in the earlier period (until the end of the 70s more or less). This is high quality female blues!  Cheesy
Heard an incredibly intense version of Since I Fell For You, but it's just one of many simply beautiful tracks.

.

Wow.

This is just about flawless, a gem of incredible beauty ...

I want to highlight the highlights, but ... the entire show is a highlight.  Every song stands on its own merits, the quality is 10+ out of 10.

Last night I was crying during her cover of one of my all-time favorites, Can't Find My Way Home.  In my defense, it was my first listen-through and I was close to a half bottle of whiskey into it, but, still ...

Thank you very much for making it available here!

I had waited for time to change her
the only change that came was over me
she pretended not to want love
I hope she was only fooling me
so when you look into the sun
look for the pleasures nearly won
or was it better than to run
than to spend the summer singing
and summer could have come in a day
