Ok... Hi again folks. I guess that I'll go ahead with another fine radio show from a boot CD. I really didn't know if anyone here will be interested in this one, it seems a little different than what is the usual fare here. This is a BBC performance by the group PFM, which hails from Italy. This sounds like it was taken from a BBC Transcription disc to me or maybe the Pre-FM recording reels. Nice recording but the mastering might be just a tad hot for some of the levels on the quiet passages. This group was well known for having such an extreme variety of textures to their music and this one shows that off very well. I hope that all that get it, like it. Enjoy...

Franz DiCioccio: Drums, percussion & vocals

Info:
It appears, from what little research I have done, that this was recorded on April 13, 1976 at Golders Green Hippodrome which had largely become by this time just another BBC Studio facility. Accordingly, this also was still an active venue which could seat around 700 people for audience. And this performance given there was introduced and moderated by Pete Drummond. I believe that it was afterwards that night, they also performed for the OGWT TV broadcast.

Artwork is included.

Hope you enjoy the music... and until next time

What kind or style of music would say this group plays?

Progressive. It was the best progressive rock music italian band of the 70s, the only one that got to be known world wide and even got some records made for the english market (in english).
If you like the 70s progressive, it may be worth a download, they were quite good.

I downloaded a show from Dime a while back, and they seemed to me to be similar in style to early Pink Floyd - pre DSOTM, but maybe post Syd Barrett.

Disclaimer - If anybody disagrees with me, I probably wasn't listening well enough.  Roll Eyes

I think the one I was listening to was a BBC session which I downloaded from Dime. Is it likely this is the same one? I haven't seen much other PFM around...

I'm gonna have to check the archives, aren't I? lol

Dunno...never thought they sounded like PF...maybe they have some elements from various bands, at times Yes, at times Genesis, some JT, maybe some PF too?  Huh?
Actually I think they have absolutely their own style, with a clearly progressive character...a bit "baroque", which is the reason that never made me not much of a fan, even if I appreciate them when I listen to their songs.

I have appended the text above to show the corrections that have now come to my knowledge. I believe that all are fairly accurate. You might want to copy this updated text for your own records.
