There were a few times I wish I had been runnin' demos today. Some really incredible shots, odd things, etc.

I can't figure out how to get the blasted demos to work in ezQuake... If you need space to post demos, let me know. I could always hook you up with a subdomain on this site. Just need to know how much space ya need.

The pentacle of knowledge is at your finger tips, bb. The best community I've ever been associated with has been GP (well, not count'n MWP, of course). The folks there have never, EVER, turn'd me down for an answer. MOF, it's such an awesome group of folks that they'll stop a match to answer a question (well most). Great people who really love the game and make all feel welcome! Trust me, if you have a question these folks can answer it! Kind of makes me sad I don't get to hang with them more often.

I am trying to record demos... I have the following setup: demo_capture_codec "xvid demo_capture_dir "movies demo_capture_fps "25" demo_capture_mp3 "0" demo_capture_mp3_kbps "96" bind f "demo_capture start 90 demo.avi" bind g "demo_capture stop" As per this message: Unfortunately, Pred, it didn't work for me. When I try to capture a demo it tells me that "must be playing a demo to capture". I looked for this in a google and it didn't return any hits. If you link back to that message from the quote, there is an attached screen cap image that has the message displayed... I have the XviD codec installed, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

AH yes, I forgot about it. It works for me. In the latest EZQ as well. First you just record a demo (a normal demo, not an avi clip) then you can play that demo and start capturing it to an avi whenever you like. It works fine for me. If it doesn't work for you then try -disabling mp3 sound encoding (which mp3 .acm codec do you have installed now?) -updating/changing your xvid codec

I don't know if you all noticed that option but you can record demos automatically. EZQ will do it for you. Then you just capture the ones you like to avi.

So what is the magic key to record a demo? bind <YOUR KEY HERE> "easyrecord $mapname" //toggles record off and on Remember QW doesnt tell you that you are recording so I always forget to restart the recording when new map starts. You can set it to auto-record but I didnt like that. You can play them from the menu but I prefer Seismovision 2.x (3.x is bloated crap) I attached last 2.x version of Seismo I know of. Seismovision enables you to simply double click the demo file in explorer to watch it. [attachment deleted by admin]

I think Fraps is the easiest way to cap a demo to avi. Never tried it that way before. Google for Fraps if you don't know what I mean

Thank you very much. Added the key bind, plan to test out soon. Seismovision is the 2.xx to 2.58 (or sumptin) upgrade. Need to find the 2.xx install. Will research Fraps a little later. Again, thanks for your help. I hope to start recording some demos so that Pred can do his magic and create for us an MWP "movie".

Fraps is a commercial software and free version only allows you to record 30 second clips. It can be enough in some cases, but not always.
