Adam & The Ants "Madam Stan" Decca Demos (Unreleased album)
Source: Studio Lineage: Vinyl > CD-R > EAC > FLAC Discs: 1 Run Time: 37:40
1 [03:08] Physical (Decca demo) 2 [03:15] Friends (Decca demo) 3 [03:19] Zerøx (Decca demo version 1) 4 [02:36] Boil In The Bag Man (Croydon demo) 5 [03:20] Christian Dior (Croydon demo) 6 [03:56] Song For Ruth Ellis (Croydon demo) 7 [02:22] It Doesn't Matter (Decca demo) 8 [03:24] Cleopatra (Decca demo) 9 [02:18] B-side Baby (Decca demo) 10 [02:04] Bathroom Function (Decca demo) 11 [03:22] Rubber People (Decca demo) 12 [04:34] Red Scab (Decca demo)
Recorded by: Adam Ant, Matthew Ashman, Andy Warren and Dave Barbe Produced by: Adam Ant Written by: Adam Ant
Tracks 1-3, and 7-13 are Decca demos recorded August 1978 Tracks 4-6 are Croydon demos recorded 12th December 1978
Notes: The bootleg LP, commonly known as Madam Stan, has also been known by the name Adam & The Ants (not to be mistaken by the double bootleg LP of the same name). Most of these tracks have turned up on other bootleg CD's since this was released.
Overall the sound quality is very good, and quite clean, but there is some small crackle on typically gets when recording from an LP.
No full scan artwork is available, but small pictures of the LP cover is included.

The next in the Thanksgiving flood is a favorite of mine. I really like the raw sound and workings of these versions of the songs compared to the final versions that made it to Dirk Wears White Sox. A little LP noise only brings back memories of listening to The Ants on the cheap stereo in the early 1980's.

Glad you enjoyed it. I have several other bootlegs, but I think most of the quality is pretty bad. I will need to pull them out, and if they are at least listenable, I will add them to my Christmas upload list.

That might be an offer I find hard to refuse! Since we are talking Ants here... Do you know why (oh why!) "Live In Japan/Live In Tokyo" and "The Prince Charming Revue" never been released on DVD?

I had heard it was due to a couple of things, mainly licence issues (the same problem with the original cancelled greatest hits DVD collection) & a probable lack of sales return (we all know the music industry like to earn a few £ / $) (the planned demo boxed set has also been cancelled for the time been, it looks like they may be putting out a boxed set of the singles next year ) I did manage to get a audio rip of the 'Prince Charming Revue' & it still sounds great to me!

Oy! Sounds like the same thing that happens in the Bowie community. Always talk of something good happening, but when it materializes it falls way short of expectation. My original "Prince Charming Revue" audio was recorded using a portable tape deck next to the TV speaker. I played that damn tape until it literally fell apart. A number of years ago I traded for a new tape and it was pretty bad -- nth generation with terribly unbalanced sound.

Listened to this one and I really liked it, knowing A&TA quite superficially and having listened to them occasionally, I really appreciated it. Also it has an excellent sound. Top rated. Thanks
