I'm currently downloading a live concert by someone on the "not allowed list" here, and I've so far found three trackers for it, which are showing different numbers of seeders/leechers.  DHT is findind three seeders, but I havn't seen any on my peer list for about ten days (ish).  The highest figure in my peers has 75% of the torrent, and I am slowly grabbing that, and then passing it on to two others, who obviously can't see him.  I'm wondering if there's an easy way of finding any other trackers of the same torrent, or if there's a way of finding a complete list?  Although I'm reasonably computer friendly, I tend to simply click on a torrent and let it do its thing, either from here, or one of the other reputable sites; but as this group is on several NALs, I've had to roam where the naughty boys and girls go, and wondered if there's a better way.  Any suggestions?  Please don't get too geeky, because I'll get frustrated and explode, and that hurts Wink  (Of course, if anyone wants to do a snail mail swap of some Porcupine Tree dvds, that'll be even nicer!)

Using uTorrent, highlight the torrent you are interested in.

At the bottom of the screen there is an info box...just below the tabs for peers/files/etc. On my machine, this is barely visible but if you scroll through this box you will find the hash for the particular torrent. This will consist of 40 letters/numbers. This no doubt means something significant in hexadecimal but we don't care about that today.

As an example, this relates to a torrent on this machine right here...
F994C44E2F7BBF63CF10E783B2FDE21C825EB8AD

Pop that number into a search engine and you should find the title of an album that I wanted to try before buying Wink

More importantly, you should find a list of trackers or "tracker trackers" hosting this particular torrent.

I'm sure there must be an easier way to find the hash but I don't know how. If you know, feel free to enlighten us Cheesy

That's great, anyone know of any other method?  (I'll have to get back to you on this, as I'm using bittorrent, but I.m sure ther'll be something similar.  It's not as if I'm downloading official stuff!  I actually buy that, because I want the band to earn money and keep going - I know, insane! Wink
But, their management has gone anti-taping bigtime, and the very few pro-shot things of PT are now buggers to find.  The trouble is, I'm 3/4 way through a full dvd of their Voodoo show, with footage of "Fear of a blank planet" tracks, which is a big upgrade to the asf file on my HD.  There's also video of the Lossarrio (not right, I know!) gig from the last tour, but the only seeder I can find for that one has 0.6% Sad.  I'll see what I can find out with a hash search....

OK, I've found it on Bittorrent, it's in the 'General' tab, first one on the bottom section of screen.  Now I go off on a search...

Right!  Good news, the hash line search is great, worked a treat.  Bad news, it looks like the seeders are still trying to seed a demonoid tracker led torrent, which has been disabled by demonoid, presumably at the request of management.  DHT spots 3 seeders, but not in my swarm.  Is there anything I can do about it from my end?  I'd post on demonoid, asking it to be put on one of the other trackers, but it looks like it's dead in the water.  Thanks for the hash trick, though, that's bound to come in handy again.

Nothing that I can think of right now. If you would like to send a hint as to where this particular torrent can be found, I'll try to get aboard. Who knows, one of the three seeds may be available? No harm in trying anything Cheesy

OK, the torrent is Porcupine Tree Voodoo 26-10-07, and the two trackers I've got that are working are: 10.rarbg.com:3411 , and,
tracker.publicbt.com:80  . The demonoid tracker (which isn't) is inferno.demonoid.com:3411.  Thanks for your help.

OK, we have the torrent file and have tried loading all of the trackers I can find. None seem to be working correctly for me but I do keep briefly hooking up to a seeder. I'll leave it open for a while just in case but I suspect that all I'll be doing is taking the 76% from you!

So now, I am hooked up to the seeder but he's giving diddly squat so far. I'll leave it open for another couple of hours but if nothing comes from him, i'll call it quits.

Iwas hooked up to a seeder for a day or two, but the feed was very slow and intermittent, then dried up completely.  At the moment, the figures are.... 1/5 seeders (you? - very slow) and 3/8 peers.  If nothing else, you seem to be providing a route from swarm to swarm, so that's great.  It may take a while, I've downloaded a whole 128k from the seeder so far!  Still. I'm in this one for the long chase.  A big thank you for your troubles, and you should find some good band footage at the end of it.  Video of "Fear of a blank planet" is hard to find.

Update: the 128k was probably a handshake between two machines.  The seeder's disappeared, though I am seeding to another peer.  The peers seem to be appearing fairly regularly, but never seem to find seeders, either, or if they do, the figures don't show, and it certainly doesn't come my way.  I'll hang about on this one, because you never know....
