Whats the easiest and cheapest way of transferring my itunes program and the music it contains from my P.C. to my lap top? In other words I want my itunes and the music it contains within it, to reside on both (P.C. & lap top)

Ive been here before! Either back up the library on dvd's,install Itunes on the other PC then rip the dvd's to the new library. Or the way which i done, buy an external hdd connect it to the pc and look in my music and and Itunes folder, not sure which one as i done it ages ago. Peek around and you should find the current Itunes library in one then select all and send to the external hdd, connect it to the other pc and import via it's Itunes prog. Which ever way you go at least you then have a backup if any pc goes bellyup.

Thanks Chris, I will finish re ripping my CD's to a higher bit rate, then I will give the DVD method a go I can't afford a external HD at the moment due to being on strike As a side question is it possible to use one of those programes that transfers your music from you ipod to your itunes to do it? or can you even do it by connecting your lap top to your P.C. ( maybe that last option might be a bit dodgy? )

For a price of a pack of DVDs you should be able to get a 4 or 8gb memory stick, much easier than burning, just drag the files to the stick, the copy them to the new computer.

I would have to agree with you Alan However if I were to do it this way, does anyone know which part of the itunes music folder which you find in the My Music folder you drag onto the memory stick? I have opened the itunes folder up and there is all sorts in there Would you drag the whole itunes folder right from the My Music folder for example, or would you need to open up the main itunes folder and just drag and drop certain parts of it from within it?

Not been here in a long while due to my pc dying on me, but now just got a new one, so.................
How can i transfer all my ipod music to my new pc? Is it possible to transfer direct from ipod?
The harddrive on the old pc is good, motherboard dead, so is there a way to transfer all my hard disc over? Got a couple of torrents to continue to seed.
Slightly off topic, but anyone running Vista. Why is my hard drive already so full (78Gb) after two weeks, when i've not installed our downloaded anything as yet. (preloaded with vista and a load of Acer shite. Only added msn, logitech) Initial back up was 10 Gb, windows saying 20 Gb. Programs 3.8 Gb. Where's the rest gone?
Got an upgrade when 7 is released.
Aslan. Did you get to U2 in Dublin?

Why not just connect the old hard drive into the new PC?

first off, find out if the old hard drive is IDE (aka PATA) or the newer SATA. All new PCs come with both now, so either way you should be able to plug it in inside the PC case (but you might need to buy an IDE or SATA cable if the manufacturer hasn't provided extra (most do)).
If you don't fancy that, then there are caddies available which you can put your hard drive in to effectively make it an external USB hard drive (most of these only support SATA though, so be careful)
