I used to attach samples to most of my uploads, before the Harvested project started. I have no idea if anybody downloaded them, or even appreciated them.  Anyway, I uploaded them to mediafire, that is one of the file hosts that tend to work well for most people no matter of location. You could of course also simply attach them to a post (click "Additional options...), but then they will be pruned once in a while by the tidy admin.Edit: here's an example, see the first post http://www.mindwarppavilion.org/ezt/torrents-details.php?id=589You people don't read my posts.  Seriously, Bewley, one question. When you clean up the attachments, do they all go, or can you prune them so that only the really old ones go? |

The pruning is done on an as needed basis and typically is set to prune for 45 days (though I can set that time frame longer if needed) -- however, I have not pruned since mid October, so an attachment can run much longer depending on the amount of attachments the forum gets in a given span of time. It is possible to selectively prune, but it is a royal PITA. I think 45+ days is sufficient to get past a torrent's initial surge. I just took a gander at the torrent list, and most audio torrents uploaded since December 1 have 0 - 10 downloaders. While it is nice to cater to all downloaders, most of these are probably guests and don't visit the site to get the attachment anyway. |

It's OK Gisele, no problem really. It's just so fascinating to say something and watch it go unheard (unread). @ Bewley, right, wouldn't want to cause a royal PITA, now would we? I'll admit, though, that I hate coming across deleted attachments. I am happy that I now know that it happens because of pruning for space, though. The first times it happened, I thought the attachment had been censored, and, sheesh, was I curious! |
