@ xuncat

please, let me explain ya...
i've tried to upload a sample, as attachment, to the ISO DP thread or in the DP torrent, can't exactly recall.
i've tried twice and got an error. so, i thought that feature wasn't available, at M-WP, as i've never read to a torrent announce with a mp3 sample attached (please, verify that one, just to confirm).  so, when i read your message and checked the link, i thought you were referring to the mediafire link (attached to a message), as i didn't find a sample there. so, i've kept thinking that feature wasn't allowed or disabled...  Wink  lol
that's why i've quoted your message (page 1) saying "i was wondering about something like Dime or a player kinda divshare or similar, "click'n'play"..."
as you see, a wrong idea(mine) let me to a succession of mistakes...  Wink
a few moments ago i realised that my sample was bigger than 4mb....  Embarrassed  Cheesy
but it's ok, thanks for trying to help me, nevermind... ya know i'm alpha testlol
the great knews is that from now on things are gonna be different (to me), and with mp3 samples!   Cheesy lol

thanks.  Smiley

I think 45+ days is sufficient to get past a torrent's initial surge. I just took a gander at the torrent list, and most audio torrents uploaded since December 1 have 0 - 10 downloaders. While it is nice to cater to all downloaders, most of these are probably guests and don't visit the site to get the attachment anyway. Wink

yeah, bewley, you're right.  Wink  Smiley
and it's gonna be PRETTY COOL to make our uploads WITH SAMPLES!!!!  Cheesy  lol
thank you thank you thank you!!!!  Smiley

a small question... what about a forum thread with all infos about attaching a sample, huh?  Wink
(well, maybe we still have it, and i've read it before, can't dig it...)

HOW TO ATTACH AUDIO SAMPLES

When posting/replying to a message there is an Additional Options...link right below the text area.

Clicking this will give you the option to attach up to 4 mp3 files (up to 6 MBs each) to the message.

The nice thing about attaching in this way is that it will show the number of times people downloaded next to the attachment.

The caveat is that the attachment is not permanent and is typically removed after 45 days or so (or when we run out of space Wink).

But the question to bewley still remains...

Is it possible for you to incorporate the Divshare "click and play" thingy into the body of the message like you did with Youtube?

In this way, maybe the sample wouldn't need to be stored on site and would not get pruned, whilst also incorporating a cool new techno-geeky thing-a-ma-bob into the forum. Grin

nice question, SS & GK...
please, if possible, just find some "free" player... (divshare player isn't, right?)

The problem I have with using external (especially free) sites for hosting is that there is no control over the content. If (when) the site decides to change URLs or delete the content, it breaks in the posting. Not to mention dealing with sites that eventually close down (mp3freediskspace anyone?), require registration or pummels the visitor with ads. Yucky

I don't know anything about DivShare, but it would appear that one would need to use "DivShare Direct" to allow for direct linking to media... This costs $5 - $50 per month. Are enough people paying for the service to justify the development of the code? Or am I mistaken and can one attach the free version to a forum? Huh?

Could you please have a look at this site http://www.divshare.com/ and tell me why the code is so difficult to implement into the forum?

Because the forum does not allow for the posting of HTML -- especially objects that could cause problems. However, it does allow for Flash and this seems to work for me... How about you?

<a href="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=3153342-c37" target="_blank">http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=3153342-c37</a>

(But I think you need to have the Flash player installed before it will work... Maybe?)

 Huh?

P.S. That wasn't difficult to implement at all! Tongue

Hmmmm... That's odd.

It worked on my work PC and my home PC. Maybe you need a newer version of Flash installed? Huh?

Think you're right.
Installed version 9,0,115,0 and now it downloads the file.

Are you speaking for Piras now. Roll Eyes Tongue

Think you're right.

Bow

Yes, to make this work, first click the Flash button ()

This will insert the folloing code:

Code:
[flash=200,200][/flash]

From there, fill in the width and height (replace the 200,200) and add the URL to the song. For example:

Code:
[flash=335,28]http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=3153342-c37[/flash]

That's all there is to it. Smiley
