I'm new to all this stuff, so please forgive me if I've done something dumb, but I have been trying to upload my first torrent onto MWP. I followed the guide and did everything that it told me to do, but when it came to me downloading my own torrent so that it could be 'enabled', nothing is happening. I am using utorrent and the download percentage bar is still at 0.0%. I'm sure it should have uploaded/downloaded by now, as I've downloaded other stuff. What have I done wrong? I'm so eager to upload loads of stuff, but don't know what's happening. Please can you help?

Thanks

Hi David,
I've had this problem recently, I think it is caused by internet explorer blocking the torrent being sent back to your PC. What you have to do is search the torrents for it and download it, it is Milton Keynes 83 i presume? When searching you must check the dead torrents box or it will not appear.
When it asks where you want to put the files make sure it is directed to the folder with the flacs then it will realise they are already there, check them and start seeding.
I hope this helps

Yes, you need to download a opersonalised torrent file...

If you have already done this, then you may have the torrent pointed to the wrong location. You'll need to check the folder in Windoze Explorer, as well as the source directory from the attempted upload in your torrent client.

It may be that you should have pointed it to:

"Torrents\David Bowie\Milton Keynes 1983\"

instead of (maybe):

"Torrents\David Bowie\Milton Keynes 1983\Milton Keynes 1983\" or something... Wink

Here is the direct link to the torrent details:

http://www.mindwarppavilion.org/ezt/torrents-details.php?id=1288

Since you are showing as connected, it means that you have the correct personalized torrent.

However, since you are showing at 0% complete, this typically means that the torrent was pointed to the wrong folder on your HD.

The recommended course of action is to remove the torrent from your BT client;
Click the link above and download a new .torrent file;
Open the .torrent file in your BT client;
When prompted to where to save the files, choose the folder where you saved the files originally.

Your client should check the files, get to 100% and start seeding from there.

Thanks Jack + GoblinKing + bewley,

Yes, its Milton Keynes '83. I use Opera as my web browser. I have just done everything you've explained and I've found the torrent in the dead section, and even though I am downloading it back into the Flac folder, there is still no activity in the download percentage bar in 'Transfers'. I think it may be pointed towards the wrong location, because checking the Flac folder on my PC, I've noticed that I've a got a flac folder within a flac folder (don't ask me how!). So I think this is where I've gone wrong. I'll do what bewley suggested and hopefully I'll get it right this time!

Thanks guys and sorry to be a nuisence!

Hi Bewley,
I think I've had this problem on the last two torrents I've uploaded. After fixing the last one I noticed the explorer bar telling me it had blocked the torrent from coming back to my PC much in the same way it blocks pop-ups etc. This problem never used to happen so i'm guessing it's been caused by one of Billy boy Gate's super upgrades. They seem to bugger most things up on a regulars basis. lol lol
I thought i would mention this so it can be rectified or a something can be written in the guidelines to warn new uploaders.
Cheers
Jack
David,
Just read your post and I think you have directed you personalised torrent direct into you flac folder rather than the rootfolder, therfore the torrent is trying to recreate all the files inside the flac folder but it can't do this as it can't download anything as your not seeding! You will probably find the second flac folder is empty.
It is probably best to delete the torrent in utorrent and the empty flac folder then download the personalised torrent again pointing it to the root folder. i.e. the one that you used when creating the torrent.
if you can understand this you're a better man then me Cheesy
Jack.

YAY!!! I think I've finally cracked it! I don't know how, but I followed the instructions outlined above and now the BTClient says that it's 100% done and "seeding" Huh? The torrent is now also showing as "new" on the MWP torrents list. But apparently I'm showing up as a leecher for some reason? Oh, this gets more complex by the minute! LOL!

Hello Jack,

Yes, I suspected that that's where I'd gone wrong. I've just done what you suggested, so let's see what happens now! Sad

I can never recall troubleshooting the Opera BT functionality. Lips Sealed

It is possible that this software isn't 100% compatible with the tracker... I will have to look into this.
