pre waterboys mike scott...in fact this is the last line up of another pretty face..just after the name change..the band another pretty face had just discovered an american outfit with the same name and an lp out!!!!..various names were bandied about..
.gordon also played sax with the scars ....
and later briefly with nico...!!! im sure this must have been a thrill for him..i remember gordon and previous apf drummer chic..were able to recite every ad lib from lou reeds ´take no prisoners´live lp..where lou decided to do his ´lenny bruce´act...
waterboys fans will find here songs from earlier apf days and future w/boys songs getting very early airings..as well as a marvin gaye cover...i loved these gigs very much..great passionate performances, despite small attendences...
this outfit mutated into the red and the black...and the rest is history....
i recorded every gig around this time using mikes own set up..but i forget what it was..but good quality hi fi cassette deck fed by sm58´s usually placed on mic stands either side of the desk...however this backfired at a gig supporting doll by doll, when 2 hawkwind fans who were very tall, stood by the mic and discussed seeing doll by doll at a hawkwind gig,or somesuch..all the way thru the set...at one of these gigs, much to our surprise in walked marty wilde and his daughter kim.....!!!
ok sorry no details on the transfer etc...i didnt actually create this torrent...i handed the cassette back to mike after the gig....after that..who knows...!
