South of Watford. Seriously?

This edition of the LWT show, South of Watford, featured events surrounding Bowies appearance at the Milton Keynes Bowl on the 3rd July 1983. Interesting document with some tasty, but all too short, clips from the show.

Also included on this dvd is "The Oshima Gang" which features clips and interviews concerning the making of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.

The cover art hints at some "hidden" bonus material which is not too difficult to find Wink

All pro-shot, all PAL format.

Screenshots for those who need them...

Thanks to Paul W for some of this (and much more) source material.
Thanks also to Gordon for the excellent cover art.

okay - stupid question time - why is this called South Of Watford?

(nobody seems to know where Milton Keynes is (considering the road network is designed to stop you ever, ever leaving)  Undecided- Bowie in 1990 said "Last time in London for this one" when introducing Ziggy Stardust. And he's English... Undecided

South of Watford was the name of the LWT series which this show was part of. Milton Keynes Bowl is most definitely North of Watford although strangely, South of Watford Gap Wink

Watching it now, looks great, love watching old documentaries. Smiley Thanks for this one. Will rate it when I finish watching it.

Ok Finished it now, this is great, not enough Bowie in the documentary, but that is no one's fault except LWT. Wink

Love the bonus tracks, Never seen the Soul train clip that clear before, and never seen the award clip at all. Smiley

Scraping the barrel a bit by implying a connection with Milton Keynes's pagoda, China Girl and therefore an obvious choice of Milton Keynes as the last show of the European tour!  Grin

This seems to be more of an advert for Milton Keynes (which were everywhere in the early 80s) than a decent documentary of the Serious Moonlight tour. They just had to get those concrete cows in there. But if the crowd that day was a cross section of the British public, or at least British youth in 1983, then my god the Brits have got fat since then...That naked chick was a real Bobfoc.

But it's quite entertaining, so thanks for this.

Have to agree with Weesam, the Serious Moonlight Tour is a pretext to advertise Milton Keynes  Wink
Anyway, for me it was all new material and nice to view  Smiley

Yeah, Rossy, I bet you just can't wait to visit Milton Keynes's twenty-first century train station now! (until I was told, I just didn't realize the amazing similarity between it and Heathrow Airport. Must be the cows)

I have a soft spot for the Milton Keynes Bowl because I saw Bowie there for the first time on 4th August 1990, which was, until recently, also the hottest day ever in the UK (99F - which seems normal now.).
